When modern day’s means of communication flows through the digitized codes that lift the gravity of relationship, Candice Joo's works weigh down the authentic affiliation between people. The artist brings the audience back to the era of the head to head with her arts, vigorously pulling the honesty of every being as it was before the advent of social media.
Deceptively simple in structure and form, Candice's main object chains stand boldly in her work. They are positioned symbolically yet commonly, forming peaceful balance or tension in composition. The surface of chains transparently reflects the view in one’s eyes, the essence of being that embodies impressions and emotions.
The artist explores these bold and colorful patterns of reflections to visually spell out the complexity of human relations. Shapes and lines flow from one ring to another like personal histories and life encounters, generating new associations from past to future. It portrays the artist's conviction to access depth and richness of various forms of relationship: between the artist and the audience, you and another, he and she, and things and them.

체인 표면에 비친 흐름은 사람들 간의 시선과 감정이 반사된 것이다. 사실적이면서도 추상적인 이 흐름과 체인의 대담한 배치로 때로는 긴장감이 몰아치기도, 때로는 한없이 편안해지기도 하는 개인 간의 솔직함을 담아내었다. 하나의 물체에서 다음 물체로 넘어가는 과정에서 남겨지는 표면의 자국들은 인간관계에서 오는 복잡하고 미묘한 심리와 깊고도 풍부한 여러 모습을 나타낸다.
Love Reflection 시리즈는 상호 의존적이지만 또 독립된 개체로서 끊임없이 관계를 맺고 살아가는 우리의 모습을 시각화하는 작업을 진행해왔다. 과거의 관계와 현재의 모습, 또 앞으로 도래할 연결 고리들을 직접 회우하는 그녀의 그림 앞에서, 당신과 우리는, 그와 그녀, 또 그들 간의 관계를 그려본다.
